13th National Conference on the Deanery

The theme for the 2012 conference is  

We need to re-shape or re-imagine the Church's ministry for the century coming, so as to make sure that there is a growing and sustainable Christian witness in every local community.

Bishop of Derby

Alastair Redfern has been Bishop of Derby since 2005. He sees the Deanery as a key component in the future of the mission and ministry. He is a member of the House of Lords and is in demand as a lecturer and teacher in leadership and spirituality.

Policy Director, Diocese of Bristol

Oliver was instrumental in establishing the Diocese's Strategic Development. In 2010 as part of the new strategy, a range of responsibilities were delegated to those holding deanery leadership positions.

Director of Finance & Operations, Diocese of London

Bringing extensive experience of church and charity sectors Helen sees finance as a positive resource for mission and ministry. She lives and worships in Southwark diocese; is a member of the Church of England Pensions Board Risk Commitee and Council Member of the RSCM.

Jonathan Hill, Director of Finance Dicoese of LicffieldJonathan Hill
Director of Finance, Diocese of Lichfield

He was appointed to the Lichfield post in 2003 and has overseen the financial implementation of the Diocesan strategy that has seen the growth of the Diocesan investment portfolio to underpin mission and ministry.

A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Managements Accountants, a member of the Charities Finance Directors Group and the Charity Trustees Investment Association, he has been a committed Christian for 30 years and ‘served his time’ on the PCC,  as well as being treasurer at a church in his home county of Worcestershire.

He served as a parish priest in Gloucester and has extensive experience in the voluntary and statutory sectors. Previously he had worked as a Mission Partner in Pakistan, and as a Probation Officer in Bristol.

Bishop of Taunton

Peter became Archdeacon of Taunton in 2003 and Bishop in 2006. Prior to this he served in various roles in London and Southwark including Director for Ordinands and Rural Dean. His experience has given him a distinctive insight into role of the deanery in the future shape of mission and ministry.

Deaneries are an established and integral resource: essential in the furtherance of mission and managing allocating resources.

The Venue - The Hayes Conference Centre

The Hayes is situated in the Amber Valley in the heart of picturesque Derbyshire just 5 miles from Junction 28 of the M1. The Hayes offers a high standard of modern en suite accommodation. For the 2012 conference we will be using the state of the art Derbyshire conference suite at the Conference Centre.

The majority of the accommodation is double bedded located in the Lakeside Centre with a limited number of twin bedded rooms available in the Alan Booth Centre.
